Kenneth Donahue, Bass
2011 Artist Apprentice in Early Music Performance

Kenneth Donahue, bass, was born in Jackson, Wyoming, and eventually moved to Pierre, South Dakota, with his family where he first learned to play the clarinet and French horn. Ultimately, only after his mother forced him to try-out for a school play, he fell in love with performing onstage. His passion for beautiful and influential music led him to begin his study of music at Northern State in Aberdeen, SD.

In 2009 he came to Boulder to finish his Bachelor of Music as a student of Patrick Mason. Here in Boulder he has performed with CU Opera and CU Now, both as choir member and soloist, and with CU’s Early Music Ensemble performing music of Henry Purcell.

Kenny first sang under Artistic Director Evanne Browne in 2011, playing the part of King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors at First United Methodist. As Seicento’s first Artistic Apprentice in Early Music Performance, Kenny will be coaching with our experienced professional singers and instrumentalists, invaluable experience that he hopes will open up a new world of performing experiences in baroque music.
