Emily Anderson, Mezzo -soprano
Praised for her musicality and stage presence, mezzo-soprano EMILY ANDERSON has performed domestically and internationally in operatic roles such as Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. A lover of new opera, she premiered the roles of the Super fan in Nathan Felix’s Glory Gone and Fleury in his work The Paños Prophecy in 2023. She has been a member of prestigious ensembles such as the Opera Colorado Chorus and the Colorado Bach Ensemble, and also has performed in collaborative concerts with the Boulder Bach Festival and the Bach Society of Houston.
Ms. Anderson has performed as part of outreach initiatives with companies along the Front Range, including Central City Opera, Loveland Opera Theatre, and Opera Fort Collins. She has also participated in competitions such as the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Aria Competition and the Laffont Competition. She holds an MM in Vocal Performance from Colorado State University, a BM in Music Education, and a PC in Vocal Performance from Sam Houston State University. She can next be seen as Cherubino in John Davies’ Three Little Pigs with Loveland Opera Theatre.
Soprano ANN JEFFERS is honored to join the Seicento family. After a hiatus for a second career as a cancer genetic counselor, she resumed studying voice in 2021 with Dr. Juliana Bishop Hoch, and has sung with Loveland Opera Theater and at the National Universalist Memorial Church in Washington, D.C. She is currently a member of the Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers. Her previous experience includes solo performances with many Boston-area organizations, including Boston Early Music Festival, Boston Cecilia, Masterworks Chorale, Harvard-Radcliffe Chorale, Boston Light Opera, Boston Summer Opera Theater, and Playwrights’ Platform.
Countertenor REX (PAK YUE) MAN, from Hong Kong, is a graduate voice student at U. of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. Recent solo performances include Smeton in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena with Lamont Opera Theater, Martini’s Domine ad adjuvandum me Festina with Lamont Chorale, and Cole Thomasdon-Redus’ Yosef and the Counseling Angel (world premiere) with Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Denver. He has also been the soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Regina coeli. In Spring 2024 he willl sing the leading role of Oberon in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Lamont Opera Theater. His voice teachers include Catherine Kasch, Ian Howell, Quinn Ankrum, and Matthew Giallongo. In addition to singing, Rex is a professional choral conductor. He has conducted Cincinnati Camerata and The Hong Kong Bach Choir, and has led several church choirs in Ohio. He holds master’s degrees in choral conducting and music theory from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree in music from Hong Kong Baptist University. Outside of music-making, Rex is a passionate cook who enjoys exploring a variety of cuisine.
American mezzo-soprano GABRIELLE RAZAFINJATOVO, celebrated for her expressive musicality and rich vocal tone, is an active performer and teacher in Colorado’s Front Range. Notable achievements include second place in the University of Colorado Boulder College of Music Honors Competition, multiple finalist awards in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition for Colorado Singers, and finalist in the Colorado Bach Ensemble’s Competition for Young Artists. Ms. Razafinjatovo has performed operatic roles with Boulder Opera Company, Opera Fort Collins, and Western Plains Opera. She is an accomplished choral singer and soloist, performing in concert with groups including Seicento Baroque Ensemble, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, and Central City Opera. In addition to her performance career, she maintains a private voice and piano studio.
Noted for her “exceptional attention to detail” and “youthful creativity,” soprano ANDREA WEIDEMANN is an operatic musician in the Mountain West. She performed the role of Pamina in Boulder Opera’s The Magic Flute, and multiple characters in the company’s concert production of Wagner’s Ring Cycle. She was a chorus member with Opera Colorado, and will join Bravo! Vail Festival Chorus and the Philadelphia Orchestra this summer for La Bohème.
While pursuing graduate study at Colorado State University, Ms. Weidemann performed some of her favorite opera characters: Euridice, Papagena, and Johanna in Sweeney Todd. She was an Apprentice Artist with Opera Fort Collins, during which time she sang Mademoiselle Silberklang in the touring production of The Impresario. She is a native of Dallas-Fort Worth and a graduate of the University of North Texas, where she was soloist for Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C, a recitalist with the Guitar and Harp departments, and the winner of the 2016 Chapter NATS competition.
Ms. Weidemann recently was featured on an orchestral recital of Baroque soprano and trumpet cantatas, and will revise the project with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra in May. Having an affinity for early music, she is very excited to join the talent of Seicento as an apprentice artist.
